Every car we bring into the shop starts with a search, not a purchase. We spend as much time saying no as we do saying yes — chasing down title histories, matching numbers, and rust in the places rust likes to hide before a car ever earns a spot on our floor. 30-50 years of time on this planet have humbled plenty of air-cooled classics, so we look past a fresh coat of paint to the metal underneath: longitudinals, heater channels, floor pans, the honest bones of the car. What we're after are cars with real provenance and mechanical integrity — vehicles that ran right when they were built and can run right again — not just survivors, but the ones worth restoring properly. By the time an air-cooled Porsche reaches our lot, it's already passed a harder inspection than most buyers will ever think to ask for.
